چکیده
where Z is the refractive index defined as the ratio of the speed of light in a vacuum to the speed of light in the given medium, date from this period. In more modern times, infrared, ‘‘beyond red,’’ radiation was discovered by William Herschel in 1800. He found that the temperature recorded by a thermometer increased from the violet to the red in the visible region. Going beyond the red he found the temperature continued to increase instead of decreasing if the light ended at the end of the visible spectrum. Recognition of the utility of the infrared spectral region for chemical analysis is credited to W.W. Coblentz and it was not until the mid-1900s that infrared spectroscopy became an established technique. Apparently, noting Herschel’s discovery of infrared radiation, Johann Wilhelm Ritter discovered ultraviolet radiation in 1801 by noting that silver chloride was reduced to silver metal when exposed to violet visible light and was even more efficiently reduced by radiation beyond the violet end of the visible spectrum.

Demystifying EPR: A Rookie Guide to the Application of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy on Biomolecules
Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, also known as Electron Spin Resonance(ESR) especially among physicists, is a strong and versatile spectroscopic method forinvestigation of paramagnetic systems, i.e. systems like free radicals and most transition metalions, which have unpaired electrons. The sensitivity and selectivity of EPR are notable andintriguing as compared to other spec...
متن کاملSpectroscopic Based Quantitative Mapping of Contaminant Elements in Dumped Soils of a Copper Mine
Possibility of mapping the distribution of Arsenic and Chromium in a mining area was investigated using combination of (VNIR) reflectance spectroscopy and geostatistical analysis. Fifty five soil samples were gathered from a waste dump at Sarcheshmeh copper mine and VNIR reflectance spectra were measured in a laboratory. Savitzky- Golay first derivative was used as the main pre-processing metho...

متن کاملSynthesis, spectroscopic investigation and coductometry of a new hexadentate symmetric Schiff base ligand containing N2O2S2 donor atoms and related complexes with Cd(II), Zn(II), Co(II) and Mn (II) metal ions
In this paper, we report the synthesis and characterization of a new symmetric macroacyclic Schiff base ligand (H2L) and related complexes with different metals. (H2L) was synthesized by the one pot condensation reaction of 2-[2-(2-formyl phenoxy)ethoxy]benzaldehyde and 2-aminobenzenethiol in a 1:2 molar ratio. The acyclic Schiff base was characterized by IR, NMR spectroscopy and elemental anal...
